Now, more than ever, we’re all relying pretty heavily on our wifi for everything from work to pleasure.
The need for reliable and strong wifi will never go away, so lets explore some of the best tips and tricks to make your wifi the best it can be.
Perform a Speed Test
In my most recent YouTube video, I performed a speed test on my own wifi without any of the boosters and products that I’ll mention later one to help – the results were terrible.
There are different speeds between downloads and uploads and it is important that you have the right speeds for what you need the wifi to do.
However, once I turned on a booster for my wifi, the speed test results improved a lot! This does not mean that I actually sped up the internet that was coming into my house, but that I’m boosting the speed of the internet as it is received by your devices.
I took this test a step further by turning on a Mesh network and the results increased incredibly! So let’s explore how to do that.
If you need faster internet in a smaller area, a wifi extender will help a lot!
My favorite is the TP Link Wifi Extender, it is easy to set up and simply plugs into the wall.
This improves the speeds to a satisfactory level without being lightning fast but it doesn’t cover much ground. This type of product is ideal for a small apartment, studio or right next to a device that needs some extra juice like a TV.
The TP Link Wifi Extender also comes with a signal booster which you can plug directly into a device; this works kind of like a bonus router for faster and more stable internet!
If you need more power for a space larger than 800 square feet and you have a slightly bigger budget, the TP Link WiFi Router is an awesome choice.
This router is a smart router and even features Amazon Alexa for easy operating. In addition, the router has a VPN for added privacy and extends up to 2,500 square feet for a strong connection in a larger space.
This product works for up to 50 devices, this seems like a lot, but when you start to really break it down; especially if you have a smart phone, those 50 devices add up quickly!
If you’re ready to graduate to something even more powerful, I would recommend a mesh system.
These systems are basically mesh nets of wifi which repeat the internet signal over and over from one point to the next. This boosts your connectivity and eliminate dead spots.
You can get a three pack of Eero Mesh systems and free Echo Dot right here which is even better!
This system will support 5,000 square feet and takes only a few minutes to set up!
It’ll connect your whole home and eliminate buffering; plus your security software will communicate through the system to all devices.
If the mesh system is a bit too complicated for you and you’d rather just plug something in and go nuts, I’d recommend the NetGear Nighthawk WiFi Router.
This is also a smart wifi router like the TP Link router, and it’s great for big open spaces. However, it does not cover as much ground as a mesh system, and it costs more than a mesh system, so make sure you do your homework and ensure this is the right purchase before you!
No device is perfect for everyone, but hopefully these ideas helped you figure out what will work best for your and your needs!
